I have always had a passion for photography, to capture real life moments and to engage with people.
At the age of 16, I served a 3-year apprenticeship at Handford Photography - a photographic studio where I learnt photography and a broad range of traditional photographic skills and techniques. In 1979 I was awarded a City and Guilds qualification in photography, I freelanced for a few years before getting married and having a family.
Through a lot of adversity and 3 small children to provide for, I took my opportunity to realise my dream of owning my own photographic studio. This was the birth of SMS Creative Photography in 1997, which my 3 children refer to as my 4th child!
I’m overjoyed to be able to connect with so many families, to be a small part of their changing lives - preserving precious moments for them to enjoy now and for future generations to admire - this gives me a huge sense of satisfaction!
My days are creatively diverse, one day I can be up to my ankles in mud photographing on farmland and the next day at a swish Mayfair address photographing the latest Ferrari - my 'Stella' website will tell you more about the cars I photograph.
Over the years I have enjoyed many fun, varied and exciting commissions, travelled far and wide and have never looked back. Covering the World Cruise on the QE2 for a limited edition book; photographing Boyzone and Cher opening the Harrods sales; the infamous Jeremy Clarkson for an exclusive book on Ferrari; Metallica and Iron Maiden at the Sonisphere Festival and most recently the ITV newscaster Alastair Stewart as Patron of the Brooke Charity.
My role within SMS Creative Photography continues as Photographer and Creative Director.
Full member of the Association of Photographers
I’m the youngest member of the SMS Creative Photography family, born just 5 days before its' grand opening on
10th February 1997.
I was born into a musical household and have always been encouraged by my parents to follow my passions and dreams in life.
My interest in photography began when I started dating my girlfriend, I wanted to impress her Dad with my camera skills as he is a keen photographer.
Some of my interests are computers and an ever increasing desire to know more about technology.
At school I gained an A* GCSE in Photography, then completed a two year course in Photography and Post Production at East Surrey College, gaining 2 A’s and a B.
I joined SMS Creative Photography in February 2016 and thoroughly enjoyed the additional on-going training I have gained.
My responsibilities as a Digital Artist include retouching, graphic design, website production and maintenance. Also liaising with you, the customer, ensuring the first class standard SMS Creative Photography are renowned for.
I grew up in Oxted and met Stella when she took our family portrait when the studio opened in 1997.
I graduated from university with a BA Hons in Textiles and Surface Design, where photography was the basis of all my work.
In 2003, I met Stella again when she took my portrait for me to give to my new boyfriend (now my husband).
Soon after, I started assisting with wedding photography and then took on a full time role in 2004 as a Junior Photographer. Along side this role I went to college in the evenings to study Post Production.
Stella and SMS Creative Photography have been a huge part of my life, including my wedding day, the birth of my 2 children and 3 house moves!
My passions include – dressmaking, baking, knitting and of course being a wife and mummy.
Coincidentally I share the same birthday as SMS Creative Photography, 10th February, I’m older though!
I am very proud to be a part of this exciting portrait studio; my role is Photographer and Digital Artist, making sure your photographs receive our exceptional attention to detail.
SMS Creative Photography has been part of my life since I was 11 years old, from this age I have watched my mum - Stella, set up and grow her business.
Having studied Media Production at De Montfort University, Leicester, I went on to work in live television selling for the Sit Up TV channels, evolving on to voice over work.
I then spent 5 years in the travel industry, selling luxury long-haul holidays, this took me all over the world to experience first hand the destinations and hotels I was selling.
SMS Creative Photography has always been in my heart, therefore I joined the work family in Summer 2016, bringing my sales and media experience with me.
Some of my passions are cooking, travel and music.
My role within the company is Brand Development, I look forward to my future here and meeting lots of you.
